Pork and Apple Burger

Ingredients

For the burgers

  • 500 g ground pork
  • 2 French shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 apples, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. sage

Apple-based barbecue sauce

  • 200 mL apple juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. water

For serving and suggested toppings

  • Hamburger bun
  • Caramelized onions
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Mayonnaise

Directions

  1. For the burgers

    • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.
    • Shape into patties with your hands, then cook on the barbecue.
  2. For the apple-based barbecue sauce

    • In a small bowl, combine water and cornstarch.
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix all ingredients together with the water and cornstarch mixture.
    • Microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking.
  3. Assemble burgers and enjoy!
